At Sweetie Pies we offer cakes of every shape and size. If you have a theme or design that you are working with for your event, we will work with you to make a cake that will coordinate with everything else you have planned. It's not enough to have a cake that is jaw dropping, it also has to be delicious!
Below are a few tips for ordering a show stopping cake:
1. Make sure you reserve your date well in advance. We are a small bakery, so we take orders only until we reach our capacity. At certain times of the year, weekends book up nearly a month in advance. As soon as the date is set for your event, we recommend calling and reserving your date. You will need to know the approximate number of guests to reserve the date. Any other details you have at that time will be helpful.
2. Once your date is reserved and your theme and colors are set we can begin planning your cake. The best cakes come when you give us a budget, a theme, colors and any specific likes or dislikes. We are creative and skilled decorators and we can usually exceed your expectations.
3. If your budget is tight, consider having a small decorative cake and a separate sheet cake to feed additional guests. The bulk of the cost of a cake is the decorators time, so usually a smaller cake will take less time than a larger one.
Most custom cakes are boxed and need to travel on a clean flat surface with adequate flow of air conditioned air. Never hold in lap or seat of vehicle.
Speed is not a problem but smooth acceleration, braking, and turning are extremely important. A cake can be destroyed in seconds if special driving instructions are not obeyed.
Round Cakes: cut an inner circle 2 inches from the outside edge then makeslices 1 1/2 inch thick for party slices or 1 inch for wedding slices until cake is completely cut. Repeat inner circle cut on large
rounds if needed. Divide the remaining center cake section into equal wedge cuts.
Square Cakes: move in 2 inches from outer edge and cut across. Slice 1 1/2 inch pieces of cake for party slices or 1 inch for wedding slices, then move in another 2 inches and cut across again until entire cake is finished.
Use a knife rinsed with hot water throughout the cutting process exercising caution. This will help facilitate clean, uniform slices.
ALWAYS PROPERLY COVER AND REFRIGERATE/FREEZE LEFTOVER CAKE.
